←&pm (Neo-Old-Youtube.)
I've noticed a resurgence of channels on youtube that attempt to emulate the look and feel of old youtube, of scrappy, fred-era youtube. I think this is comorbid in motivation to the resurgence of young folks dipping their toes into the old-web with sites like neocities, nekoweb, and others. The channels range from true attemps at simulations of old youtube, to capturing the aesthetic and sensebilities and porting that into a modern context, but most fall somewhere in between; Certainly, the old way of doing things is creeping it's way back into style.
This is in part where the queers and the kind, wikipedia-dwelling weirdos hang out. There's of course Maia Arson Crimew and xyz3va in the international hacktivism corner, modern artists like Camille, and what can only be described as the performance art of the Brahkie youtube channel.
I suppose I'm personally guilty of this too by virtue of this site not being a characterless squarespace abomination.
